Preserve Your Story — Create Something That Lasts

Life is a collection of stories, lessons, and moments that matter. When someone is facing a serious illness, it can be hard for families to know how to talk about what’s most meaningful or how to capture it in a way that lasts. That’s where Legacy Projects come in.

Legacy projects are personalized creations that help people share their values, experiences, wisdom, and love with the people who matter most. These projects become treasured keepsakes. Something families can hold, read, watch, or listen to long after someone has passed.

 What Is a Legacy Project?

A legacy project is a meaningful keepsake, crafted with intention, that captures the heart of a life lived. It’s not simply a task, it’s a chance to reflect, express love, and leave behind gifts that comfort and connect. Projects can be tangible or digital, simple or creative and they’re guided by you and your loved one’s priorities.

Common legacy project examples include:

  • Memory books with stories, photos, and handwritten notes

  • Video messages for future birthdays, weddings, graduations, holidays or everyday encouragement

  • Audio recordings of stories, advice, favorite songs or reflections

  • Letters written for future moments when comfort is needed

  • A cookbook of family recipes and the memories behind them

  • Ethical wills — sharing values, hopes, and life lessons

  • Collages, scrapbooks, custom artwork or handcrafted keepsakes

  • Digital memoirs, photo compilations, or slideshows

Because every life is unique, no two legacy projects are the same. Together we select a format that feels right and fits the time available.

Why Legacy Projects Matter

Legacy projects offer meaning, connection, and peace during a time when it can feel like everything is uncertain:

For the person creating:

  • They shift focus from illness to identity and meaning

  • They provide purpose, dignity and a way to express what truly matters

  • They help people reflect on life with intention

For family and friends:

  • They create opportunities for heartfelt conversation

  • They build soothing keepsakes that aid in grief and memory

  • They transform anticipatory grief into meaningful connection

Instead of only focusing on loss, legacy work celebrates who your loved one truly is — and creates a lasting story that future generations can return to again and again.

How We Work Together

My approach is warm, flexible, and centered on your needs.

Step 1 — Discovery & Planning:
I meet with you (and your loved one, if desired) to listen deeply and learn what matters most. We explore memories, values, stories, and what form the legacy might take. From there I help create a clear plan for how the project will unfold.

Step 2 — Creation & Support:
Once we decide on the project, I help bring it to life. I can assist with writing support, recording, editing, assembling photos, or coordinating the technical aspects, so you can focus on connection and presence.

I know this work is tender, and it’s my honor to support you with patience, care, and respect every step of the way.

Investment

I charge $25 per hour for legacy project support, plus the cost of printing materials and any additional supplies needed to complete the project. (For example, photo books, printed letters, or media storage.) You only pay for the time we spend together and what materials are necessary to create the keepsake you envision.

 FAQs on Legacy Projects

  • A legacy project is a meaningful keepsake created to preserve someone’s stories, values, memories, and love. It can be written, recorded, artistic, or digital — and is designed to be shared with family and loved ones now or in the future. Each project is personalized and created at a pace that feels comfortable.

  • Legacy projects can be created by anyone facing serious illness, aging, or end-of-life — as well as by families who want to preserve memories together. Projects may be done individually, with family members present, or with loved ones participating in parts of the process.

  • Not at all. Legacy work can begin at any stage - during illness, recovery, aging, or even simply as a way to document a life story. Many families find it especially meaningful to begin before a crisis, when there is more time and energy for reflection.

  • That’s very common. I help guide gentle conversations and offer ideas and prompts to discover what feels most meaningful. You don’t need to have a plan; we create one together!

  • Every project is different. Some can be completed in just a few sessions, while others unfold gradually over time. We work at a pace that respects energy levels, emotional readiness, and health needs.

  • Legacy project services are billed at $25 per hour, plus the cost of printing materials or supplies (such as photo books, printing, or storage media). I’ll always be transparent about time and material costs so there are no surprises.

  • Yes. Family participation is often encouraged and can be incredibly meaningful. Loved ones may help by sharing stories, gathering photos, asking questions, or simply being present during sessions.

  • That’s completely normal. Legacy work often brings laughter, tears, and reflection. I offer calm, compassionate support throughout the process and create a space where all emotions are welcome — without pressure or expectation.

  • You can reach out to schedule an initial conversation. We’ll talk about what you’re hoping for, answer any questions, and decide together if a legacy project feels like the right fit for you or your loved one.
